FAQ
What will the accommodation be like?
We’ll be staying in a beautiful home set up for large groups. Leading up to the retreat, we’ll reach out to attendees to organize sleeping arrangements - everyone will have their own bed, but it may be necessary to share a room.
What kind of food will we be eating?
All dinners will be prepared for you, and will be well-sourced. Breakfast will consist of a buffet, and lunch will be a sandwich spread that we’ll take into the park.
What’s the deal with the rock climbing?
We’re partnering with Mojave Guides, a highly-regarded guiding service in Joshua Tree, for a half-day of single pitch climbing. No rock climbing experience is needed. All climbs will be set up by certified guides, and Mojave Guides will provide basic required equipment. If you have your own climbing shoes, harness, chalk bag, and/or helmet, bring it!
When should I arrive and depart?
You can arrive anytime on Friday after 5 PM. Our opening circle will be at 7 PM, but if you can’t arrive by then, we understand. We’ll officially close Monday morning at 9 AM, but if you need to depart Sunday evening, again, we understand.
What level of fitness and experience is required?
You should be able to walk 2 miles comfortably, with mild elevation gain and loss. The rock climbing portion is optional, and we’ll provide other options for hiking or journaling practices for that portion. No rock climbing experience is needed.
What will the weather be like?
In February, the average high is 66°F, and the low is 41°F. Come prepared for chilly mornings and evenings, and moderate daytime temperatures.
What should I bring?
We’ll send out a full packing list ahead of the retreat, but mostly just basic hiking shoes, athletic clothing, a journal, and whatever you’d normally bring for a weekend away.
